You can control how you want your AI moderator and participants to interact during your study. There are two modes you can choose from:
Voice-to-voice moderation
Voice-to-voice mode lets you make the participant experience even more conversational by having the AI-moderator read out it's questions to your participants.
Questions from the AI moderator will be read aloud and shown in text. Participants can simply respond by speaking, and the AI moderator will automatically understand when the participant has finished speaking to proceed to the next task or question.
Any long pauses from the participant will trigger the AI moderator to move on to the next question in the study, whether that's an AI generated follow-up question or the next block in the study.
In practice, this means that your participants and the AI-moderator can have a real-time conversation, as:
Questions asked by the AI-moderator are read out loud to the participant.
The AI-moderator will actively listens to what the participant is saying and know when to ask a clarifying follow-up question or move on to the next block in your study.
In Voice-to-voice mode, you still have full control over what questions get asked, as the AI-moderator will still follow the structure of the study you build.
At the start of studies in Voice-to-voice mode, a custom message will be shown asking participants to grant access to their microphone. You can customize this message by going to Study settings, choosing Voice-to-voice moderation and then customising the Permissions screen message:
Text moderation
Questions from the AI moderator will only be shown in text, and will not be read out loud. Participants can respond by submitting a written answer or voice recording. Participants have to take an action (i.e. click an option in a Rate or Choose block or submit a text or audio response) to submit their response and move to the next question in the study.
To change the moderation mode for your study, click the "Study settings" button in the study builder, and choose the mode you want for your study:
