Capture voice, text and webcam recordings from your participants

Control how you record responses from your participants.

Updated this week

To give you full control over the participant experience, you can control exactly how participants record responses to your study questions on Wondering using the User input method setting:

Voice first
Participants press to record a voice response, talk, and submit their response when they’re done:

Text first
If you prefer to let participants type their response, this lets you display a text box so participants can type their response:

Voice + webcam recording
Participants press the recording button to record a voice response, talk, and submit their response when they’re done. Their web camera will record their face as they record their response.

Here's what input types are supported for each study block:

Across studies on Wondering, we see that responses that are recorded with voice as the input method give 2X longer responses than responses where text is the default input method. As a result, the default input method for participant responses is Voice recordings.

Wether you prefer to capture responses using voice, web camera or text depends entirely on your preferences and what's most appropriate for your study, so you have full control over whether participants see voice or text as the default input method.
