How to test live websites on Wondering
Updated this week

How do Live Website Tests on Wondering work?

Live Website Tests allow you to show your participants any website, such as your landing pages or a competitor website. By combining Live Website Tests with other blocks in your study, you can then ask questions to your participants to better understand how they experience those websites.

How do I set up a Live Website Test?

Live website tests can be set up by using the Message blocks in the study builder. If you want to run a Live Website Test in your message block, add the URL of the website you want your participants to visit to the Website URL field:

Next, provide clear instructions to your participants in the Content section of your Message block for how to complete your Live Website Test:

In your instructions, make clear to participants that they should return to your study after they have completed the task on the website.

When participants return to your study from the website they have visited, they will automatically see the next block in your study, where you can ask them questions about anything you want to learn more about.

What instructions should I give to participants in my Live Website Test?

We recommending providing clear instructions in the Content field of your Message block for the task you want your participants to complete in your Live Website Test, and reminding them to return to your study when they have completed the task. Here's an example we've seen work well:

"You will now be asked to complete a task on a real website. When you click the button below, a new browser tab will open and your task will begin.

Your task is to [FILL IN YOUR TASK HERE].

When you are finished, return to this window to continue the study."
