Understanding prototype task success criteria

What are success criteria?

In Wondering, success criteria help you to:

  • Determine whether a participant has reached a specific Figma frame, indicating successful task completion. This is referred to as a "Success frame".

  • Display a custom message to the participant when they reach the success frame. This is useful to inform the participant that they've completed the task and to prompt any final verbal feedback whilst they can still interact with your prototype.

For example, when testing the purchase journey for a new product, participants reaching the success frame are prompted to share their final thoughts before completing the task.

When should I add success criteria?

Two common types of prototype tasks are:

  • Exploratory: e.g. "Take a look through this web page and share your first impressions"

  • Action based: e.g. "Add an item to your basket"

Success criteria are best suited for "Action based" tasks, such as ‘Add an item to your basket,’ allowing for automatic measurement of task success or failure, and helping you gather richer participant feedback.

Coming soon - What does the analysis look like?

As part of your study results, Wondering will display if a participant reached your success frame or not.

A preview of what this could look like is shown below.
